Assam down town university । Assam down town University (AdtU) held its 12th Convocation with grandeur and solemnity, celebrating academic achievements and charting new beginnings for its graduating students.
The auspicious occasion was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who was warmly welcomed by the Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. N.N. Dutta, and Vice Chancellor, Prof. N.C. Talukdar. To mark the historic day, the Governor planted a sapling on the university campus, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and the nurturing of young minds.
The ceremony began with the traditional Academic Procession, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem and the State Anthem of Assam. The Governor then formally declared the convocation open.
In his Welcome Address, the university leadership reflected on AdtU’s transformative journey, reaffirming its mission of creating future-ready graduates. The Vice Chancellor’s Report highlighted significant milestones in academics, research, innovation, and collaborations achieved during the past academic year.
A major highlight of the convocation was the conferment of honorary degrees. Padma Shri Dr. Randeep Guleria, Former Director of AIIMS, New Delhi and President of AIIMS, Bilaspur, was conferred with the D.Sc. (Honoris Causa), while Dr. Sri Sri Pitambar Dev Goswami, 16th Satradhikar of Sri Sri Auniati Satra, received the D.Litt. (Honoris Causa). These honors were bestowed by the Hon’ble Governor in recognition of their exceptional contributions to healthcare, knowledge, and society.
Degrees were then awarded to graduates across faculties, including Ph.D., Postgraduate, and Undergraduate students. The convocation also celebrated excellence with the presentation of Gold Medals:
- Best Postgraduate: Ms. Punam Kumari (Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science)
- Best Undergraduate: Mr. Krishna Kumar Bharti (Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science)
- Best Placement Achiever: Ms. Nafisa Rahman Choudhuri (Faculty of Commerce and Management)
- AdtU Alumni Award for Inspiring Achievement: Ms. Leimapokpam Ranjita Devi
The Best Postgraduate student administered the Oath of Dedication, reinforcing values of integrity, service, and responsibility among the graduating class.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Acharya congratulated the graduates, lauded their accomplishments, and urged them to apply their knowledge with compassion, resilience, and innovation to build a better society and nation.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of the Convocation Book, a Vote of Thanks, and the National Anthem, marking the end of a day filled with pride, achievement, and inspiration.
